Hello Data Geeks.

Today, I wanted to test a new format for this email I send every single Saturday.

But first, a quick apology. Yesterday, I was so tired to get the final touches on the email.

I had a pretty intense week at work (good stuff, BTW) but I was very tired.

So, I needed the day to rest and chill with my family. We just went to watch Super Mario Movie, and it was an amazing experience.

The risk of burnout for content creators out there is very real. Justin Welsh shared a scary story of him about this, and shared a lot of great tips to avoid it:

So, I love taking time offside, working out, or watching movies with my family.

7 Jobs, 7 Ideas

Today I wanted to test a new format for this email. Or perhaps, I will send this ”format” on a new day of the week. We will see.

The core idea behind this format is very simple: to share 7 new open roles in interesting companies, and share one single idea per job to stand out your job application.

BTW, some of you asked me where I can find more Data Engineering roles. I just wrote a post with 11 places to find those roles.

That’s it. So, let’s share today’s roles and their respective ideas.

1. Principal Data Engineer at Murmuration (U.S only) 

Make your own research on why the Education System in Public Schools needs a revamp and bring your ideas on how to fight back

2. Data Engineer at Veeva Systems (Pennsylvania, US) 

Veeva is one of my favorite businesses of all time. Watch every interview of Peter Gassner (CEO and founder of Veeva Systems) like this one and this one; and see why the company is so efficient and lean. Bring your own ideas about making Data Operations more efficient there.

3. Principal Data Engineer at bp (London, U.K) 

bp is a big Azure customer, so perhaps the book from Vlad Rișcuția called Data Engineering on Azure could be very helpful for you

4. Senior Staff Analytics Engineer at Shopify (Remote Americas) 

Watch this talk called “Rewriting History: Migrating petabytes of data to Apache Iceberg using Trino“ from Marc Laforet (Sr. Data Engineer at Shopify). If you have time, watch the entire playlist here. It’s amazing

5. Staff Data Engineer - Big Data at VISA (Bengaluru East, Karnataka, India)

6. Data Engineer at loveholidays (London, UK - Hybrid)

loveholidays is a big user of Google Cloud Platform, and they are proposing a Data Mesh architecture there.
